斯巴达城邦是古希腊世界有名的军事化城邦。在军事至上的社会风尚影响下,斯巴达妇女与这个军事共同体密切相关,具备古希腊其他城邦妇女所不具有的社会地位,在世界文明古国中也是社会地位较高的妇女。本文从经济、政治、体育锻炼、文化教育和饮食等几方面对斯巴达妇女的社会地位进行探讨,试图解析斯巴达妇女社会地位较高的原因。
